George Nader, an American actor was born in Pasadena, California. With a Bachelor’s in theatre arts from Occidental College, George had his career cut out for him. However, life had other plans.
He developed an interest in acting at an early age and featured in several Pasadena Playhouse productions. This is where George Nader met his life partner Mark Miller as well with whom he surprisingly spent his entire life.
George Nader was not openly gay at the start of his career, though he never minced words by feigning relationships with other women. This is something that speaks volumes about his character as an individual. After a couple of stints in plays, he performed various uncredited roles in TV series and feature films alike.
His breakthrough came with a lead role in his first 3D thriller ‘Robot Monster’ in 1953. The flick redefined ‘bad’ in the movie scene but was a major money maker for the producers. This got George Nader his first ever contract with one of the more popular production studios; Universal Pictures.
Unfortunately, Universal at this time already had good-looking faces like Rock Hudson, Tony Curtis, Jeff Chandler among others which were established with the audience. George Nader after much effort could only find himself cast in the roles which were not taken up by these heroes of the time.
